Reviews
These accessible translations are a valuable addition to the Schiller corpus available in English, and Francis Lamport's consistently lucid Spiritualist stands out among them., These engaging narratives, the shorter ones even more than the lengthy ones, merit scholarly attention and a wide readership.

Synopsis
Friedrich Schiller was a dramatist and poet for the ages, an important aesthetic theorist, and among Germany's first historians. But he left few works of literary prose behind -- seven short tales and fragments, almost all from early in his career -- and although they include some of his most resonant in his own time, they are largely overlooked today. Several of the pieces -- which include The Ghost-Seer, A Magnanimous Act from Most Recent History, The Criminal of Lost Honor: A True Story, A Curious Example of Female Vengeance, Duke Alba at Breakfast at Castle Rudolstadt, Play of Fate: A Fragment of a True Story, and Haoh-Kiöh-Tschuen -- have never before appeared in English translation. But they are a seminal link in the evolution of the then-nascent German novella. They exhibit the anthropological curiosity and moral confusion that made Schiller's first drama, The Robbers, a sensation, demonstrating an original artistry that justifies consideration of scholars and students today, on the eve of the 250th anniversary of his birth. New translations of the seven works appear here together with introductory critical essays. Contributors: Jeffrey L. High, Nicholas Martin, Otto W. Johnston, Gail K. Hart, Dennis F. Mahoney; Translators: Francis Lamport, Ian Codding, Jeffrey L. High, Ellis Dye, Edward T. Larkin, Carrie Ann Collenberg Jeffrey L. High is Associate Professor at California State University Long Beach., Friedrich Schiller was a dramatist and poet for the ages, an important aesthetic theorist, and among Germany's first historians. - 5***r (181)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaOne of the best shopping experiences that I've had on ebay: thoughtful speedy communication, ultra fast shipping with careful packaging, and great price. Item came as described. Regarding the price of the CD- as I write this another seller is asking over $200 for it. Zuber's price was $35.00. How's that? I know these people have some negative reviews, but I can tell that they strive for improvement and better customer service. Highly recommended seller. Thanks Zuber!
- s***m (290)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaA new copy of a rare out-of-print CD was packed in a box mailer and was quickly shipped. I can't remember the last time any merchant packed a CD in a box--usually they throw it in an envelope and the CD or case arrive damaged--so this seller rates the BEST score possible! The seller sent a message telling me that the CD was shipped and gave instructions in case there were any problems (there were none). Great experience...Gret Seller!!!
- l***1 (1375)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaGreat seller; seller shipped the book SUPER FAST, FREE and with tracking number/information. The carrier used by seller was great, made the delivery in the wee hours of the morning and notified me immediately. Also, the book came in water proof bag, which is greatly appreciated since it was damp outside given the early delivery. I am so pleased with seller's description of this book, very accurate. Great communication too; rate seller 10++++++EL PRINCIPE Y LA BELLA CUBANA. LOS AMORES DE DON ALFONSO By Roberto G. Fernandez (#186393647586)
