Synopsis
*** SHORTLISTED FOR SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT BOOK OF THE YEAR AT THE SUNDAY TIMES SPORTS BOOK AWARDS 2023 *** 'fascinating, frank, funny' Jim White, Daily Telegraph 'insightful' Henry Winter, The Times 'very entertaining ... great stories' Hawksbee & Jacobs, talkSPORT radio 'an incredible book' The Football Show , Sky Sports News 'Yeah, I'm all that plus a bag of chips' 'Come round my house and we'll have a fight on the front lawn' 'I'm as chuffed as a badger at the start of the mating season' 'I thought his bum cheeks looked very pert' Football management is like being a potato - you're never too far from the sack and everyone is constantly chipping away at you. It's not for the faint-hearted and unless you've got skin as thick as rhino and, more importantly, a wicked sense of humour, you've no chance of surviving.Ian Holloway - aka 'Ollie' - has all the above and more besides. His press conferences are the stuff of legend. He's been there, seen it and done it in his 40 years as player and manager, and has been entertaining football fans on and off the pitch for most of his life. He's been head honcho at clubs in all four divisions in English football, experiencing everything from the giddy heights of taking Blackpool to the Premier League to fighting relegation from the Football League with Grimsby Town. There's never been a dull moment. In the joyful How to Be a Football Manager , Holloway weaves a fantastically rich tapestry of hilarious anecdotes to reveal what being the boss is really like. This is not a handbook to tell you when to play a Christmas tree formation or throw on a false nine - it's about dealing with the ridiculous, fighting your corner and always having a comeback., *** SHORTLISTED FOR SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT BOOK OF THE YEAR AT THE SUNDAY TIMES SPORTS BOOK AWARDS 2023 *** 'fascinating, frank, funny' Jim White, Daily Telegraph 'insightful' Henry Winter, The Times 'very entertaining ... great stories' Hawksbee & Jacobs, talkSPORT radio 'an incredible book' The Football Show , Sky Sports News 'Yeah, I'm all that plus a bag of chips' 'Come round my house and we'll have a fight on the front lawn' 'I'm as chuffed as a badger at the start of the mating season' 'I thought his bum cheeks looked very pert' Football management is like being a potato - you're never too far from the sack and everyone is constantly chipping away at you. - o***j (53)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe item was just as described and an amazing price so that's why I'm giving positive feedback. It's over 10 dollars cheaper than average for this item which can't be beat. But man, it took over 20 days to get to me. And when I messaged them I got stock response until finally told it shipped and then it did. That's the problem with this seller, they make the shipping label almost instantly but take weeks to actually send out the item. I dunno if I'll order from them again.
- h***h (177)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaI see a number of negative comments about this seller, but I took a chance since it was a great price for the book I was looking for. I ordered on July 2 and just got the book today July 22. It came in safely packed and intact. Condition was as described and expected. The seller uses DHL for shipping, and I think this is where most complaints stem from. Once I ordered the book there was no further info other than it had shipped. No tracking number. Otherwise, I have no issues with this seller.
- r***a (1)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaitem arrived in condition stated(like new)although there was a delay in it being shipped(not the seller's fault, they shipped it out 2 days after I ordered),both ebay and the seller(World Books USA) got together and solved the problem soon after I contacted them.that to me is a sign of a great seller.item in great condition,at a great price and great they worked hard to get it to me.would buy from this seller again
