GIGI - beautiful music!
This cd was double fun for me to discover. I love Putumayo world music and Buckethead and this cd has both. Gigi's melodic voice combined with upbeat music and mellow guitar riffs make a great sound. If you are buying this for Buckethead only you might be a little disapointed because he is just a minor player, he only plays on one track. The emphasis is on the Ethiopian groove. But for a Buckethead collector I would say go ahead and buy it - you can never have too many BH cds.

not as rockin' as I hoped
This is not my favorite Ruthie cd. It is softer and more controlled (less "blues-y") than Runaway Soul or Stages which are both excellent albums in my opinion. If you don't have any Ruthie then I would buy Runaway Soul first. If you already have some of her music then this would be a nice addition to your collection.

What? you listen to Mars Volta and don't have this?
Being a big fan of the Mars Volta I went back and discovered that "At the Drive In" was the previous band that Omar and Cedric were in. This is not as avant garde as the Mars Volta but you can definately hear the beginnings of where their sound came from. I am pretty sure this is At the Drive In's first album and is more fast paced and punk-ish. Great cd imo.
