Cisco's simplified switch upgrade system allows for a single configuration setup. If you have room for one switch, you have room for many because you can stack these switches on top of each other. The fast changeover made possible by Cisco technology means it is easy to build your system while operating your business. These are important features whether your business is entry-level, mid-market, or a large enterprise.The Cisco Catalyst 2960G-24TC-L series switch has a total of 24 ports. Twenty of the ports are Ethernet 10/100/1000. The other four are uplink ports. Each of these gives you the use of one 10/100/1000 Ethernet port or one Small Form-Factor Pluggable based Gigabit Ethernet port. The SFP Gigabit port provides your system manager with the flexibility of connecting wireless or wired routers, systems, or other devices, using either a fiber or copper uplink.The Cisco Catalyst 2960 series of switches allow you to connect your devices using either POE or non-POE. If your equipment is a POE-enabled device, you can use the Power over Ethernet configuration that allows you to run one cable to provide both electric power and network connectivity. If you do not know if your equipment is POE-enabled, just plug it into the switch using a LAN cable. The switch will detect if the device is POE-compatible and send power automatically. If you do not have POE equipment, you can use a non-POE connection. Computer configuration is easy using Cisco Network Assistant software. You will find intelligent software that provides enhanced integrated data security by using various authentication methods and data encryption technology. Network Access Control is based on port, user, and MAC address information. This switch includes features meant to make things easier for your computer manager such as Access Control Lists. It offers 32Gbps forwarding performance when switching.Bandwidth optimization and system control are handled through Quality of Service (QOS), multicast services, and granular rate-limiting.
