News is the 2008 release from the acclaimed Scottish rock band with 13 tracks and is their first studio album in over 10 years. Nazareth was formed in Dec. 1968 in Dunfermline, Scotland out of the ashes of the semi-pro local group, The Shadettes, who formed in 1961 by vocalist Dan McCafferty, guitarist Manny Charleton, bassist Pete Agnew and drummer Darrell Sweet. They gained their name from the 1st line off The Band s classic song 'The Weight'...'I pulled into Nazareth, was feeling about half past dead...' They went on to record such rock classics as 'Love Hurts', 'Hair Of The Dog' and 'This Flight Tonight'. 2008 marks the 40th anniversary of when Nazareth first took the stage in Scotland in 1968.
