Say hello to your very own piece of yesteryear with the 1901-O Barber quarter. This beautiful U.S. coin was originally worth 25 cents. But from these few cents have come many dollars of value. This Barber quarter series of coin is said to be a good value in the coin market. Expect that it may be sold and sold again and still retain its value as long as the grade continues the same. This quarter was originally designed by Charles Barber, the sixth Chief Engraver of the US Mint, in the year 1901. It is composed of 90% silver, 10% copper, which makes coins like these of interest to both metal enthusiasts and numismatists alike. It is not a proof coin. This particular quarter is was minted at the New Orleans, Louisiana Mint. In addition, this Barber quarter is certified by the PCGS, the Professional Coin Grading Service. This organization can legitimately have the coin grade certified for value and authenticity. This proof of certification adds to the buyer’s peace of mind that this Barber coin is what is advertised. One side of the Barber quarter exhibits a lovely Liberty head. Her head is adorned with a wreath, fastened by a ribbon that is tied at the nape of her neck. Thirteen stars are distributed around the her on the perimeter of the coin, six on one side, seven on the other. These stars remind buyers of the thirteen original colonies of the United States. Directly above her head, the famous slogan of "In God We Trust" is etched in capital letters. Stamped on the reverse side of the Barber quarter is the U.S. emblem of the eagle with outstretched wings. In the right talon, the eagle holds an olive branch, a symbol of peace. In the left talon, the eagle holds thirteen arrows, a symbol of strength in unity. On its chest is a shield, and in its mouth the eagle clasps a banner with the slogan "E Pluribus Unum" or, “Out of Many, One,” Thirteen stars populate the field behind the eagle, completing the image. Also, the U.S. origin of mintage mark, “o,” is located on this side of the coin, directly underneath the eagle. This 1901-o Barber quarter, aka, the Liberty head quarter, is a fine addition to any coin lover’s collection.
