The Yashica Samurai X4.0 SLR film camera is a compact, autofocus single-lens-reflex camera ready to help you capture everything you see. This device is equipped with a 4x zoom lens that lets you get close shots every time. One of its most unique features is that this is a half-frame camera, which you might also know as a single-frame or split-frame camera. While ordinary negative sizes measure 24mm by 36mm on common 35mm film, the Samurai X4.0 has a special shape; it takes 17mm by 24mm negatives. Each operation of the Yashica Samurai camera, including the focusing, exposure, and film advancing, is strictly automatic. Focusing is done automatically with through-the-lens (TTL) phase difference detection. It’s easy to focus the camera and obtain a clearer shot by slightly, not fully, pressing down on the shutter release; a green light turns on when the subject is in sharp focus. In addition to the auto focusing feature, there is also a zoom lens and shutter that operates in 1/300 of a second. The focus range is as close as 2.6 feet, which makes this an ideal camera when you need to take sharp, close-up pictures. The exposure is, again, automatic with compensation for backlit subjects. There is also an automatic daylight flash capability. Film advancing is also automatic with a built-in motor, auto loading, automatic first frame positioning, and continuous shooting up to maximum two frames per second. The Yashica Samurai X4.0 camera supports automatic exposure compensation, which lets you shoot pictures even in backlight. This feature works by compensating exposure automatically, comparing the brightness in the entire picture frame and the central area so your main subject has correct exposure. The camera achieves its exposure compensation with TTL spot metering and daylight flash, which you can switch as required. This leaves you with beautifully lit and sharp photos. On the display of the Yashica Samurai X4.0 you can access the automatic flash activation mode, an exposure counter, night scene mode, on-demand flash mode, slow-shutter synchro-flash mode, continuous shooting mode, continuous three-frame self-timer mode, a self-timer shooting mode, and quintuple exposure mode. You can also easily view the battery check, film transport/rewind, date display, and date print confirmation marks. There is a lot of punch packed into this display, making it a very technologically advanced camera. The power source is one 6-volt lithium battery (2CR5) for camera operation with a built-in lithium backup battery. A 6-volt lithium battery provides power for exposing about 700 frames. There is also a battery checkmark that blinks when battery power is low. The Yashica Samurai X4.0 is a true work of art in its style and design. Accessories available are a wide and telephoto lens conversion kit, classic cases, and straps to complete the look of your camera.
