The SPR-50C component system features 5.25-inch woofers, with multi-layer, hybrid fiber cones that deliver top-notch power and bass response. Alpine adapted the specifically ridged surround that makes its subwoofers so popular to the speakers. This gives you consistent, extended cone movement that pushes a lot of air. The silk tweeters bring out the soaring highs of your favorites songs without any harsh tones. An EQ ring in front of the tweeter helps disperse those highs so everyone in your car sits in a sweet spot. The tweeters mount separately so you can customize the range according to your seating position. A lot of speakers get loud. Very few car audio speaker systems can handle massive amounts of power, yet reproduce that sound with the utmost clarity. The Alpine SPR-50C speakers do just that. External, two-way crossover networks, control the high and low frequencies for seamless, clear sound – and they are 60 percent smaller than the older type-R crossover, so are easier to install. The type-R speakers have earned their reputation as the masters of “crank it to the max,” but Alpine really brings the performance up a notch with this model. The phase plug incorporated into the center of the woofer cone allows for more sound dispersion within the vehicle, while eliminating unwanted sound distortion. The Alpine SPR-50C 2-way speaker system is very efficient, and works well with any high-powered component amplifier. The CEA-2031 power rating on this sound system is 100 watts with the power handling capacity, at its peak, being 300 watts. The tweeter measures 1.5 inches in diameter, while the subwoofer has a 5-1/8-inch diameter. The type-R series builds on Alpine’s legendary reputation as an expert power-handler. One reason for its “powerful” status is Alpine’s patented Linear Drive Motor. This uses a square, wire voice coil that’s 30 millimeters in diameter. A small, but mighty, neodymium magnet drives this voice coil. This unique design allows for linear motion over an extremely wide excursion, efficiently channeling your amplifier's extreme power into superior sound. When other speakers give up, Type-R’s linear drive motor keeps on delivering the volume, with 100 watts RMS and 300 watts peak. The speakers use Alpine’s patent-pending Multi roll HAMR surround, a technology found in many of Alpine’s subwoofers. At higher volumes, a speaker’s suspension system typically loses control and becomes unstable. The Alpine SPR-50C breaks this trend, as the speaker’s surround combines both large cone area and long linear cone excursion, for a driving bass response.
