Many sellers simply test if the drive turns on, or if it can format successfully, but this does not tell you if the entire drive is usable and healthy. Many drives on eBay are already starting to fail invisibly. We check every single sector on the drive with badblocks. If there is even one bad sector, we don't sell it, because the drive has begun to fail and will lead to data loss. Note that re-allocated sectors listed in SMART are normal for healthy drives and are not bad sectors as they have been re-mapped and replaced with healthy sectors! We do not guarantee any particular SMART status for our drives, instead we use a full test of the drive's surface as a more reliable indicator of health.
