The coupled rangefinder on the Voigtlander 105 mm lens camera functions by calculating the distance between the camera and the subject of the photograph. It then determines the accurate focal distance for the lens. The Voigtlander Bessa II with 105 mm lens features an auxiliary lens whose position shifts with the manual focusing of the main lens. When the image seen through the auxiliary lens corresponds with the one seen through the viewfinder, then the focus is sharp. This large format rangefinder camera is a folding camera, making it a compact size for easy portability when not in use. The Voigtlander 105 mm lens camera features bellows, which provide shielding from the light. In addition, the Voigtlander Bessa II with 105 mm lens is designed for use with large format film, namely 6 cm by 9 cm film. The large format rangefinder camera comes with a cable-release socket adjacent to its curved shutter-release lever. This facilitates the attachment of a cable release to the Voigtlander 105 mm lens camera for use in long-exposure photography.
