Quiénes somos

WingraBooks (named after Lake Wingra in my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin), began in 2008 as an online bookstore. The business is a one-person operation, unless you count my husband, who at times begrudgingly ships books for me. I had always wanted to own a bookstore, complete with a fat, sleeping cat. Instead, I began my career teaching high school English and then worked some 25 years as an academic librarian at the University of Wisconsin. When I retired, I realized I could actually have my store on the Internet, brick and mortar no longer being a necessity. I do not specialize in a particular genre, but I am always on the lookout for interesting, collectible books. The majority of my books are non-fiction (U.S. history, world history, military history, science, biography). But, I do find myself nabbing first edition fiction at book sales; you know, just because. . .
