Because the seller did not use any padding, cardboard backing or filler material whatsoever to keep it flat. They just stuffed it into a thin envelope. Seller did not write "Do not fold" or any kind of warning onto the envelope to ensure the integrity of the product. Very poor packaging and lack of TLC on this sale.
