The digital audio experts from Apogee bring you the Ensemble Thunderbolt Audio Interface digital audio hardware system with Firewire. This system delivers superior sound quality and functionality. Use it at home with digital music accessories or with your recording gear in a commercial studio with your preamps, bass, and drums. It's designed to work exclusively with Macs—the system is compatible with Mac OS X 10.10 Yosemite as well as OS X Mavericks 10.9.3 and above—and has Firewire connectivity to and from the computer. The sleek, minimalist appearance of this universal audio unit is also designed to complement your Mac. The front panel features 10 plasma-style meters, eight of which can show both analog inputs and outputs. The other two meters show the coaxial and optical digital I/O. There are also two rotary encoders for input/output levels. You’ll appreciate the convenience of the front panel guitar I/O, too. Apogee has upgraded the A/D converter (ADC), providing a cleaner, more natural sound. Additionally, there's a noticeably clearer, jitter-free sound with incorporation of the ESS Sabre 32-bit Hyperstream D/A converter. This digital audio interface features analog-to-digital conversion (ADC) to record up to 24-bit/192 kilohertz. Your music can benefit from the eight professional-quality Advanced Stepped Gain Architecture mic pre-amplifiers that give you 75 decibels of useable gain. With this system, you can take advantage of superior bandwidth, ultra-low noise, and no distortion. No matter what you’re recording or what accessories you’re using, you never lose the detail or depth of the original performance. The Apogee Ensemble Thunderbolt audio interface comes with Maestro software, which allows you access to all of the internal settings and provides the ability to mix and route hardware. It also lets you configure your output (5.1, 7.1, or stereo). The unit has been updated with a new software driver, providing ultra-low latency. The hardware logic chip contains an optimized Direct Memory Access (DMA) engine, allowing high-speed data transfer with your computer, which frees up the Mac for plug-ins and software instruments with Logic Pro X. Don’t worry about running out of inputs or outputs with the 30x34 I/O Ensemble Thunderbolt Audio Interface. The unit includes four Class A JFET combo inputs (line- or mic-level signal) and four inputs with both XLR and high-Z high impedance TRS connectors, allowing you to connect up to eight pieces of analog gear. There are also 10 fully configurable balanced line outputs (two are balanced monitor outputs). Additionally, you can use the two Apogee hardware inserts, two independently-controlled headphone outputs, and 18 digital I/O channels. The Ensemble Thunderbolt audio interfaces have TOSlink optical connectors for either ADAT or S/PDIF input or output. In addition to the regular S/PDIF, there are word-clock connectors with a built-in self-termination switch.
