The Gitzo GT1530 Tripod is also sometimes labeled the Gitzo Mountaineer, due to its rugged nature and carbon fiber construction. This tripod has an easy-twist opening motion on each of its three legs and G-locks to keep them in place. The center column of the Gitzo GT1530 Tripod may be removed to give photographers a minimum shooting height of 13.4 inches. It can also be used to increase the maximum height from 52.8 inches to 61 inches. Removing the column of the tripod also decreases the overall carry weight. The standard carry weight of the Gitzo Mountaineer, with the center column, is 2.5 lbs, making it a lightweight piece of equipment that can easily be taken to on-location photo shoots. The legs can be adjusted together or independently to accommodate most terrain types.
