The M-Audio ProFire 2626 interface features 26-inputs and 26-outputs, as well as an onboard DSP mixer, sourced from up to 52 audio streams. There are eight analog combo jacks that accept either XLR or 1/4-inch mic or line inputs. These each connect to one of eight preamps. The preamps utilize Octane technology to control gain, phantom power, and a 20-decibel pad on the front panel. Next to these are eight 1/4- inch TRS line-level outputs. These can be used to connect to an external mixer, processor, or preamp. These can also be used for surround mixing with up to seven satellite speakers and one subwoofer.On the front panel of the ProFire 2626, there are two more 1/4-inch instrument jack inputs. Those inputs take the place of the first and second channels on the back panel and are optimized for guitar or bass. There are two headphone jacks here as well, with independent volume controls for each. In addition to these, there are several digitized inputs and outputs on the interface. They accept RCA, MIDI, S/PDIF, BNC Word Clock, and ADAT I/O formats.With control panel software, you can configure each specific I/O channel and access the format of digital input or output options. You can also control the 18x16 DSP mixer and router. There are Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP drivers for DirectX plus ASIO, GSIF2 and MME/WDM, and Mac OS X drivers for Core MIDI and Core Audio.
