Continuing the Metal Gear video game tradition, Naked Snake embarks on another rescue and sabotage mission, but this time in a harsh, jungle environment. Snake Eater maneuvers through a Cold War-era Soviet rainforest, and the player as Naked Snake is now outfitted with hand-to-hand combat, a stamina meter and the ability to measure injuries and treatments. Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater carries over the ever-present, cloaking cardboard box from the previous Metal Gear video game, and also adds the more historically accurate sonar device, motion detector and a camouflage index. The life bar in the previous Snake Eater action game has been replaced with the injury meter, letting the player manage food, water, injuries, and health status while evading enemies. Stealth and deception are still rampant in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, and the main character raises the bar with improved environmental elements and camouflage tools. Evading detection through stealth, treachery, and the assistance of familiar characters like Boss, Major Zero, and Para-Medic, players of the Snake Eater action game will still get a dose of Naked Snake’s trademark humor. Players of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater will find that Naked Snake’s stamina has increased due to the decreased carrying capacity of his backpack, eliminating the need to dispose of excess items. The combination of new moves, obstacles, and possible outcomes mean that every player’s experience will be unique.
