Designed to look like older dolls, the City Style Barbie can be perfect for anyone who collects figurines. Released in 1993, she looks just as great today as she did back then thanks to her classic styling. Barbie comes fully decked out for a day of hanging out with friends around town. As part of the Classique collection, this doll features style by the mile. She comes dressed in a classy outfit that includes a tailored white suit with a peplum hem. That hem makes her look curvier than ever. You can leave the jacket closed for a more streamlined look or open the jacket up to show off her matching skirt. City Style Barbie also comes with some matching accessories. She wears a replica gold necklace around her neck with realistic pearls set in the gold. Matching replica pearl earrings come attached to her ears, and she wears a gold ring on one hand. The jewelry has small posts that stick through the plastic to keep the pieces from falling out. Other accessories include a tasteful hat and purse. That hat is especially elegant, with its large rose and gold band. Barbie's purse features the same nubby fabric used on her dress and has an ornate gold chain. You can drape that chain over her shoulder and through her hand to keep it from sliding off. To complete the look, the doll comes with a pair of simple white heels and her own shopping bag. The bold "B" logo on the front of that shopping bag is a mainstay of the Classique collection. It picks up the gold in her outfit and shows that she loves to hit the shops. Mattel also included a pair of patterned tights that work with her clothing and won't overwhelm her outfit. As part of the Classique collection, City Style Barbie looks similar to the original dolls released during the early years of these toys. You can see that classic look on the box itself. Instead of using cardboard with clear plastic, it features a cardboard piece that slides open. The white cover has a stylized drawing of Barbie on the front that gives you an idea of how she looks. It also features the "B" logo and the name of the doll across the front.When you lift off that cardboard cover, you'll see an open box inside. The bright pink background works with the theme and puts the focus on the classic look of the designer toy. City Style Barbie sits upright inside against that background. Cut out pieces inside hold her purse and all other included parts. This keeps the pieces from shifting or falling out during shipping.
