However, when I saw Altered 104 - Everything! by Beth Cote, I knew had to choose it.Altered art is a broad term that encompasses many styles and genres of art. Altered art may serve a functional purpose, as well as being a creative and artistic piece.Altered 104 - Everything! is a book that is for all levels and types of artisans. Whether you have been altering items for many years or you want to try it for the first time, this is the book for you.This book has more than 50 projects that provide both intrigue and inspiration, while also helping you put meaning into your art. But the one that really spoke to me was the chess set. When I saw it, I knew I had to make one and I had the perfect item to use.A couple of years ago I purchased an old folding table at an auction for $3. It is much larger than the board that Beth used in the book, but I thought it would make the perfect Steampunk inspired game table.Steampunk Charity Wings, Vintage Treasures, and Be Stylish stamp sets designed by Candy Rosenberg for The Rubber Café and the Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paper collection with coordinating Time Flies stamps by Hampton Arts made making this project fun.Altered 104 - Everything! is such an inspiring book. Now, I want to either alter these chess pieces or create some using gears and bolts. I already bought glass stones to make checkers. The book includes instructions to do that, as well as how to make watch part, rusty nails and button checkers.This book is full of inspiration and will have you making altered projects in no time!
