Product Information

Most gamers have heard of Capcom's Street Fighter II. The game is considered by most critics to be a legend for its time, and was responsible for popularizing the fighting genre. But did you ever stop to wonder why there is a "two" attached to the name? This is because there was an original Street Fighter, and it was released on the TurboGrafx-16 CD format as Fighting Street.

Fighting Street is a 2D one-on-one fighting game. You control Ryu in his quest to prove himself as the world's most powerful warrior. Ryu must travel to several different countries and defeat all fighters he comes across. If he's successful, he will have to go to Thailand to face off against Sagat, the most powerful fighter of them all. Each fighter has a health bar used to monitor damage taken; to defeat a fighter, you must completely drain his health bar. Ryu has a health bar as well, and if he loses all his health he loses the match.

Ryu can punch or kick opponents, and has an arsenal of special techniques as well. With certain button and pad movements Ryu can throw a fireball, launch himself into a dragon punch, or jump into a helicopter kick. Ryu can also throw punches or perform kicks of different strengths; you can control an attack's strength by holding the button down for a certain length of time.
