Starring Viggo Mortensen before he became a star in LORD OF THE RINGS, VANISHING POINT is a remake of the 1971 cult classic. Mortensen plays Jimmy Kowalski, a former army ranger who learns that his pregnant wife has become quite ill while he is a thousand miles away. Without a second though, he hops into his car and races off to be with her. But following his speeding automobile, a small army of cops grows, at first annoyed at Jimmy's speed but eventually fearful that his refusal to stop could be a sign of dangerous intentions. VANISHING POINT turns the original on its head through an endorsement of conservative politics, while remaining true to the exciting car chase action.
