Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon is a Nintendo DS remake of Japan's original Famicom console Fire Emblem game, set in the swords-and-sorcery fantasy land of Archanea. Through dual-screen display and touchscreen controls, players follow the adventures of a brave young prince in exile, and lead a small team of heroes in turn-based battles of magic and metal across grid-lined battlefields. Different characters have different strengths and weaknesses in their speed, attacks, and defence, leading to fresh and engaging tactical considerations in each new battle. Shadow Dragon is the first Fire Emblem game for DS, and includes tutorial levels and additional content that adds depth to the characters and settings of the original game's story. It is also the first Fire Emblem game to support online multiplayer combat, through a DS wireless connection to broadband Internet. As an introduction to the series, Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon offers multiple difficulty settings and plenty of backstory, designed to support veteran players as well as newcomers to the series.
