Product Information
The Sylvania 6SN7GTB is an American-made vacuum tube that has a good general purpose for television, audio, or other uses and is part of the 6SN7 series. Made in the USA, Sylvania gives you a sound so clear and sharp that every note on a guitar shines through. Hear a voice a continent away that sounds next door on an amateur radio. The 6SN7GTB vintage tubes are very similar to the 6SN7GTA tubes. They are chrome domed and have triangular-shaped black plates. They are made with large getters and small getters, and they were made in the late 1950s through the 1970s. While the Sylvania 6SN7 was used as an audio amplifier in the 1940-1955 period, it usually is in the driver stages of power amps and preamps. This vacuum tube was responsible for transmitting sound waves through ham radios used within the field. Suffixes of A or B at the end have been added as the tube specifications were changed. The original 6SN7GT had a maximum plate voltage of 300V and maximum dissipation of 2.5W per plate. After World War II, the tube was uprated to the 6SN7GTA with an increase of the maximum plate voltage to 450V and 5W plate dissipation (limited to 7.5W for both plates combined). This was necessary to enable the tube to be used in TV sets as an oscillator and amplifier in the deflection unit. As screen sizes became larger, voltage and power headroom became insufficient. To address this, uprated versions with higher peak voltage and power ratings were introduced, such as the 6SN7GTA. The last upgrade, to the 6SN7GTB, only changed the heater. In the B version, the heater has a controlled warmup time to enable the use in series connected heater strings, a requirement for TV sets.Product Identifiers
