Product Information
The Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver was designed with single sideband and CW communications in mind. Originally manufactured in 1973, the ham radio operated in the 10-, 15-, 20-, 40-, and 80-meter bands. As a side note, you can easily adjust the 10-meter band on the Atlas to cover any portion of the 1000kHz band. Employing all solid-state circuitry, the amateur ham radio provided communication to locations around the world from a fixed, portable, or mobile position. At the time, the Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver provided state-of-the-art electronics and circuit design to its users. Now, though, the vintage radio finds a place within the collection of ham radio aficionados, including those who wish to collect a part of the history of this popular hobby. The Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver is calibrated in 5kHz increments on all of the available bands, except for the 10 meters. On this band, the increments are set at 10kHz. The same holds true with the tuning knob skirt, with all bands having increments of 1kHz, except for the 10-meter band, which features 2kHz increments. The radio features a rear socket that gives you the option of plugging in an external variable-frequency oscillator (VFO) or crystal oscillator accessory, allowing licensed operators to communicate on military auxiliary radio system (MARS) bands. In addition, the device includes plug-in circuit boards, making it easier to maintain. The front of the radio features a tuning dial and dial set for easy manual frequency navigation. Furthermore, the front controls include a function and band switch, various gain controls, and a sideband selector. The unit also offers a calibrator on-off switch, dial light dimmer, and an automatic level control (ALC), which governs the signal strength going into the power amplifier. Weighing in at 6 pounds, 14 ounces, the device is light enough to carry with you into the field if needed. The delicate electronics inside the device are protected by the radio’s metal outer covering. The receiver requires less than 0.4 microvolts for a 10 dB signal-plus-noise-to-noise ratio on the 80-, 40-, and 20-meter bands. The sensitivity is 0.4 microvolts on the 15-meter band and 0.6 microvolts on the 10-meter band. The device likewise features a 3-inch, 3.2-ohm speaker. A rear jack allows you to plug in an external speaker or headphones. For gain, the receiver requires less than a 1 microvolt signal, which gives the device 0.5 watts of audio output. Easy to install, the Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver works in either a mobile or fixed configuration. For fixed installation, make sure to purchase an appropriately sized battery. You should also install an external oscillator and amplifier for extended range. In addition, you need to purchase mounting equipment designed specifically for the device if you plan on operating the radio from a fixed location. The Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver also uses a Gel-Cell rechargeable battery pack, which allows the radio to operate in the field for a number of hours determined by the receive-transmit ratio and the modulation level. The Gel-Cell rechargeable battery comes with its own AC charger and a leather case for easy transportability. Add an Atlas 210X Radio Transceiver to your ham radio collection, and own a piece of amateur radio history.Product Identifiers
