The HP Mini 311 Netbook features elements from several of the larger HP notebooks, such as a black lid and HP’s swirl pattern. The chassis front edge is unobtrusively lined with a black speaker grille, while the keyboard, silver deck, and touchpad are reminiscent of HP’s Pavilion Series. The HP Mini 3 Netbook measures 11.4 by 1.2 inches, which makes it comparable to other similar models on the market. This netbook is easily mobile and easy to carry since it weighs only 3.2 pounds. The Netbook 3 has square silver keys that are close together and offer a slight indentation to provide a place to rest your fingers. The keys are comfortable to type on and it’s easy to get up to normal speed. The silver touchpad on this laptop is well sized at 3.3 by 1.5 inches, and the two mouse buttons are large enough to operate easily. The HP Mini 3 Netbook has an 11.6-inch display and features a resolution of 1366 by 768. This size makes it easy to view documents and web pages without the need to scroll. The display screen is glossy and has excellent viewing angles horizontally from 90 degrees on each side. The front of the Netbook 3 features a speaker grille with Altec Lansing stereo speakers hidden inside. These speakers provide excellent sound quality with more bass than a comparable sound system found in typical netbooks. The Mini 3 has a port selection that features a USB 2.0, as well as an HDMI port on the left, and Ethernet, headphone/mic, VGA, and a 5-in-1 memory card reader on the right. It has a hard drive that is capable of storing 160 GB of memory. The Netbook 3 has a NVIDIA Ion LE GPU graphics processor that, while not as powerful as NVIDIA graphics on larger models, easily outperforms netbooks of a similar size. Ion improves video graphics performance vastly and provides an overall boost to the system. This helps it provide better performance for mainstream gaming, such as "World of Warcraft." The system features Windows 7 software and the six-cell lithium ion battery provides up to eight hours of battery life.
