I think aquarium shops ought to give a public warnings about Ramshorn snails; they are a total menace, because they breed like you cannot believe, and if left to their own devices, without any predators, they will kill everything in the tank, including themselves, from over breeding. You'll have a big stinky mess on your hands. Not to mention they destroy all your plants. I am currently trying out the native snail in QLD Australia, so far they have not proved to be such prolific breeders, but I've only had them for 12 months, so the jury is not out yet.
