For gamers who love action mixed with some supernatural effects, DmC: Devil May Cry HD Collection for the Xbox 360 can provide that. This game was created by Hideki Kamiya and developed by Capcom and Ninja Theory. It was published by Capcom with a 2012 release date. This 2012 version of DmC: Devil May Cry HD Collection for Xbox 360 is no new game. Devil May Cry was originally a very popular series of games that received high ratings and first appeared on the PlayStation 2. After the first release, the collection also included Devil May Cry 2 and Devil May Cry 3: Dante’s Awakening, all similarly released for PS2. Due to its huge popularity, the game was re-released for Xbox 360 as an upgraded version with high-definition graphics. DmC: Devil May Cry HD Collection is a hack-and-slash character action game and is played in a single-player setting. In the game, players act as Dante, who is the son of a demon known as Sparda. Dante embarks on an adventure to avenge the death of his mother, who was murdered while exterminating demon characters back to hell. The game is loosely based on an Italian poem entitled “Divine Comedy.” Devil May Cry focuses primarily on fast-paced, highly stylized combat. In order to obtain a high style ranking, long attack and evasion strings are essential while also avoiding damage. This type of gameplay makes the experience challenging and suspenseful. The style ranks are given letter grades, which from worst to best are D, C, B, A, and S. Devil May Cry also features puzzle solving and exploration elements, though the main focus is on the action. Each letter grade is represented by an associated word: D stands for Dirty!, C for Cruel!, B for Brutal!, A for Anarchic!, and S for Savage! Once S is reached, players can push even further to reach SS (SSadistic!!) or SSS (SSSensational!!!) rank. The higher the ratings, the quicker Dante can move through battles, as well as increasing his ability to complete more advanced fight combos. However, the style rank also begins to deplete through inactivity, neglecting to use a variety of attacks, or continuously losing battles. A special ability that Dante possesses is called the “Devil Trigger.” This enables Dante to transform into a devilish form with new and improved powers, including additional powers based on the weapon in use as well as increased strength and speed. Health also depletes a lot slower when in this mode. The general plot of DmC: Devil May Cry HD Collection involves Dante, with the help of a young woman named Kat, taking down the demon king Mundus. Dante and Kat travel through a variety of dark scenes to defeat demon characters and reach their final battle with Mundus. Throughout the game, Dante is coming to terms with all he has learned along the way and begins to see apparitions of various people within his life, which provide clues to lead him along his quest.
