Synopsis
This is a masterpiece of historical writing, a book that compels its readers to reflect anew on the shaping forces of history. Beginning with the siege of Berlin,1945provides rich insight into the conflicts, motives, and counter-motives that marked the end of World War II and established the lasting patterns of deceit, uncertainty, and distrust that defined the Cold War. "Superbly sensitive to the ground-level tragedy and the high-level politics of 1944-45, the readably fluent Dallas proves integral to understanding both what is known and unknown about the cataclysmic conclusion of the Second World War."--Booklist(starred review) "One comes away from reading Gregor Dallas's eloquent book with a profound sense of the war's futility, wastefulness, and unintended consequences."--James J. - a***4 (321)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe book was in excellent condition, as described in the listing, and was excellently packaged, arriving in unblemished condition. The shipping time was very quick. While the listing showed the book with a dust jacket, the book did not come with one. I brought this to the attention of the seller, who responded to me right away, and was satisfied with the seller's explanation. I have to say that the service was in every way outstanding.
- h***2 (1187)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThe book arrived swiftly packaged in a protective plastic envelope, but it was a paperback not hardcover as listed. I contacted seller and they apologized, refunded me and suggested several things to do with the book after allowing me to keep it. I have gone ahead and ordered a hardcover from the same seller. I’m a repeat customer and hope to remain so. This mixup was a first, but I’m very impressed with their prompt response and professionalism. Kudos :)
