Synopsis
* The royal ruby parure worn by HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is an historic set of jewelry, comprehensively examined in this publication* Detailed essays revive the history of the iconic parure* Exhibition at Koldinghus Castle, Kolding (DK), May 2018The royal ruby parure worn by HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is a delicate piece of craftsmanship dating back to the early nineteenth century. The beautiful set was transferred in 2010 to the Danish jewelry company Dulong Fine Jewelry for one of the century's most extensive restoration projects. Nina Hald has followed this process in detail and provides a fascinating insight into the goldsmith's craft and the development of a new set. This publication details the historic context of the ruby set's origin of creation - a time when every woman of standing would own one - and the history of its transmission from generation to generation in the royal families of Sweden and Denmark. Moreover, the author devotes a whole chapter to the ruby itself and another to the cultural history of the color red.Published to accompany the exhibition at Kodinghus Castle, Kolding (DK) in May 2018., The ruby parure of Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is a delicate piece of the highest craftsmanship dating back to the early nineteenth century: it was made for Désirée Clary, wife of Marshal of the Empire Jean Baptiste Bernadotte, to mark the imperial coronation of Napoleon Bonaparte in 1804. In 2002, the ruby parure was finally passed to Crown Prince Frederik and his future wife, Crown Princess Mary of Denmark. In 2010 Crown Princess Mary decided to hand over the precious set to the goldsmiths Dulong Fine Jewelery in Copenhagen. In one of the most comprehensive restoration projects of the century, the set was carefully restored and modernised. The possibilities in being able to customise the parure were now commensurate to the demands of a modern crown princess known for her stylish appearance. The reworking was accompanied and documented in detail by jewellery expert Nina Hald. With photographs by Sarah Lindbæk, the book Royal Rubies provides a fascinating insight into the restoration process of the new set., - The royal ruby parure worn by HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is an historic set of jewelry, comprehensively examined in this publication - Detailed essays revive the history of the iconic parure - Exhibition at Koldinghus Castle, Kolding (DK), May 2018 The royal ruby parure worn by HRH Crown Princess Mary of Denmark is a delicate piece of craftsmanship dating back to the early nineteenth century. Excellent seller. Package was delayed ( by bad weather) and then misplaced at PO( placed in wrong box #) but I contacted the seller and they responded quickly and I got my item today. This seller went the extra mile and I would highly recommend them and will shop here again. I also want to say the price for this complete hard to find item was way below most of the other listings. Condition was good as stated, and although I've only watched the first disc it's quality is good. Thank you!!

Purchasing form this company can at times be frustrating due to items never arriving, very low shipping time and the inability to track the items. But I gave them another chance and purchased many maps and books over the past few months and have received all of them. Last year, it was hit and miss. All items were in the condition as described. Packaging is minimal. The only downside is extremely slow shipping. I rate them a C+. Nothing to gloat about but eventually you will get what you wanted.
