The 1768-L43 CompactLogix brand system features a 1769 series backplane that supports up to 30 input and output modules but utilizes the power supply of the 1768 controller. CompactLogix brand 1768-L43 controllers are designed to provide a solution for medium-sized accessories applications. Additionally, the manufacturer has provided the capacity to expand the system, with two 1768 modules and 16 1769-modules, to handle any conditions. With two megabytes of user memory, you get sufficient storage for your applications. CompactLogix brand controllers are created by the manufacturer to only support nonvolatile storage, through CompactFlash memory cards. The 1768-L43 provides a number of communication options, including Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and ControlNet. Its RS-232 port also provides a faster and universal means for serial communication with other devices. The manufacturer has also developed RS-485, which has a definition of electrical characteristics, not protocol. You can configure the RS-232 port of a CompactLogix brand controller to act as a DH-485 interface.
