A startling debut novel about the burden of Holocaust memory and the implacable zest for life. Thirty-six years after her mother was liberated from Auschwitz, the unnamed narrator lives a comfortable life in Paris. Her mother sees ghosts at every turn, longing to find the family that disappeared behind the miasma of the Holocaust, but she cannot reconcile her mother's trauma to the cheery bustle of daily life that surrounds them. The pain of memories that are not hers haunt her, weighing all too heavily until she is incapacitated by them, unable forge her own future. As our narrator becomes further entrenched in the past, a letter is sent by the Department of Missing Persons suggesting that her grandfather is not dead, though details of his survival and current situation are unknown.     The books were exactly as advertised and were delivered in perfect condition. For second hand books they were high quality books, basically brand new in appearance. I rate the purchase as excellent value. I live in Australia and the books came from USA. They were very well packaged. I highly recommend this seller.

    The shipping was really fast and came four days earlier than expected. The seller was very responsive and agreed to an offer I made. That was really awesome. I got a pretty good price. The books were in worse shape than I realized. The item listing was kind of not true. There were also no pictures of some of the bad places of the books. I got it for a good price though, so you get what you pay for. Overall a pretty good seller, not the best, but pretty good.
