Synopsis
An enchanting historical romance from the 2018 RITA award-winning author that New York Times bestselling author Sarah MacLean calls "a charming, clever, and engaging storyteller." Named to All About Romance's "The Best of 2018!" Duke. Scoundrel. Titan of business. August Faulkner is a man of many talents, not the least of which is enticing women into his bedchamber. He's known-and reviled-for buying and selling companies, accumulating scads of money, and breaking hearts. It's a reputation he wears like a badge of honor, and one he intends to keep. Clara Hayward, the headmistress of the Haverhall School for Young Ladies, on the other hand, is above reproach. Yet when she's reunited with August all she can think of is the way she felt in his arms as they danced a scandalous waltz ten long years ago. Even though her head knows that he is only back in her life to take over her family's business, her heart can't help but open to the very duke who could destroy it for good. "Where have you been all my life, Kelly Bowen? If Julia Quinn, Sarah MacLean, and Lisa Kleypas were to extract their writing DNA, mix it in a blender, and have a love child, Kelly Bowen would be it."-HeroesandHeartbreakers.com, Clara Hayward revels in her position as headmistress of the most prestigious ladies' finishing school in England. But when her parents die-- leaving their import company on the edge of bankruptcy-- the school becomes Clara's only hope of rescuing her family from financial ruin. Armed with her wits and her substantial connections, Clara expands the school's curriculum to incorporate an exclusive summer itinerary-- an enterprise that caters only to the wealthiest members of the ton. It is a clever solution that might just work,as long as Clara remains strictly professional with the handsome Duke of Holloway. August Faulkner was never supposed to be a duke. As the youngest son of the 12th Duke of Holloway, he spent many years cultivating his reputation as a playboy before unexpectedly inheriting the title. It's a lifestyle that provides a convenient cover for his true passion--seeking out companies on the brink of financial disaster and swallowing them for profit. And there are rumors that the once-prosperous import company held by Lancelot Hayward may be ripe for taking. Which is why he's agreed to chaperone his younger sister on her summer school adventure--it's the perfect opportunity to investigate the Hayward family. Except nothing could have prepared him for Clara Hayward. Charmed by her humor and cleverness, August finds himself spending more and more time with her, and he quickly realizes it's not just her family business he wants..., Clara Hayward revels in her position as headmistress of the most prestigious ladies' finishing school in England. Seller handles a massive inventory so I give them grace on the slow processing and shipping. They were very communicative and prompt with their response when I messaged in asking about it. Book was in good condition as described. Small ding on the page edges which wasn't mentioned, but that's fairly common even at your typical book store. Still a good value and I'd buy from them again.

The first item arrived with some damage to the inside back cover, but the seller responded immediately, assuring me they’d provide a replacement, and even told me I could keep the original. They were upfront about a short delay, and gave a clear estimated ship date, and followed up right on time once it shipped. The replacement arrived in perfect condition and exactly as described. I really appreciated their transparency and professionalism. Would definitely buy from them again!
