The artistry of the Hollywood portrait photographers and their portraits of Crawford, Garbo, Cooper, Hepburn and many other legendary stars both revolutionized photographic portraiture and, to an extent, formed our vision of the great Hollywood faces. The author studied the glamour photographs that were made in the 1920s and the 1930s - by Hurrell, Coburn, Allan, Richee, Bachrach, Willinger and Ruth Harriet. 150 of their portraits are seen here, each reproduced from the photographer's original print or negative and the photographers themselves and the actors and actresses they portrayed describe how they worked during the photographic sessions. John Kobal is the owner of a collection of prints, negatives and film memorabilia and is the author of over 20 books.
