Acerca de este producto

Product Information

Welcome to the world of corporate decision-making, workplace gambles, and a myriad of human interactions. This is a story that affirms the traditional values of hard work, fidelity, and building the human alliances necessary for achieving enduring success. John Andrew, a retired Boeing executive, offers a unique insider look at the profound changes Boeing experienced in the 1960s as the product mix shifted from military hardware to the first generation of jet-powered airliners. The requirement for more factory space was fueled by new models and a surging worldwide demand for air travel. Massive construction projects were launched, including a newly constructed 747-sized factory on 760 acres at Paine Field in Everett, Washington. These cathedrals of airframe assembly remain vital to Boeing's ongoing operations today. AUTHORS: John Fredrickson's work history includes 36 years at Boeing in various departments, service with the US Air Force, and 23 years as adjunct faculty at the local community college. In his fifth published aviation history book, he teams with John Andrew, a retired Boeing executive and Harvard MBA, as they explore the creation of new airplanes and factories at Boeing during a period of metamorphosis between 1965 and 1969. SELLING POINTS: . Witness the Boeing Company as it transforms itself from defense contractor to purveyor of airliners . A primer for building the largest airplane factories in the world . A 747 can transport 400 people from Los Angeles to Sydney, Australia, with 47,000 gallons of jet fuel 130 colour and b/w photographs

Item was as described and arrived well packaged. Price was reasonable. Dispatch of item was a little on the slower side, but it arrived safely and in good conditoon, so can overlook it to be fair. Seller replies quickly to messages and answers any questions well. Once it was dispatched it arrived quickly. Over all, happy with purchase and would buy from again.

This book is new and is as described in the listing. A slow dispatch was not due to the seller as a third party was responsible for packaging and sending it. The item was eventually delivered by Royal Mail well within the period dates shown. Having purchased from this seller previously a feature of both purchases was the slow dispatch for which the seller is not responsible.

Cover shown on website didn’t match that of book sent. (I’d anticipated the lovely cover art as illustrated.) The book sent has disappointing cover artwork of later or earlier edition. My fault rather than a complaint. Should have contacted seller before ordering, as I did with previous Paul Gallico book I'd ordered from same seller, who were very helpful. (On that occasion I did get the book/cover I wanted.) Moral of the story: check with seller if this sort of thing is important to you.
