Synopsis
The current account deficit measures U.S. trade in terms of goods and services and of income and transfer payments. Beginning in the 1990s, and at a quickening pace since 2001, this deficit has risen from roughly zero to over six percent of the United States' gross domestic product. At the same time, Asian and oil-exporting countries accumulated equally spectacular surpluses. How did this imbalance come about--and why so drastically? In this book, economists Anton Brender and Florence Pisani dissect the mechanisms that led to the formation of global imbalances and enabled the savings generated in one place on the planet to be used in another. The savings transfers that took place cannot be explained solely by greater freedom of capital movements. They were also the product of economic policies and of globalized finance that transformed the ways capital circulates and the risks attendant on its investment are borne. These new arrangements were of astonishing power, but also great vulnerability. This study throws light on how they worked and on the sequence of events that led to the collapse of globalized finance., The current account deficit measures U.S. trade in terms of goods and services and of income and transfer payments. The condition of the book was "Very Good," as was described and includes a "Very Good" dust jacket with award stickers. Great value, extremely fair price. I’m very pleased with the condition of the book and the pricing was excellent compared to other sellers online. It was packaged extremely well and arrived with no wrinkles or folded areas. I made a great purchase and I now look forward to purchasing additional items by this author from this seller. 10/10 satisfaction! The Power of A Praying Wife Omartian, Stormie paperback Used - Like New (#276668989218)
- b***b (169)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Último añoCompra verificadaAfter two poor experiences with this seller, they exceeded my expectations with this order…hard to believe it was the same seller. The book purchased, identified in their listing as “Very Good”, was, in fact, “Like New”. The price was very fair. Shipping was slow, but that seems to be true with many things purchased in the internet. If I have a complaint, it is that the seller will not respond to specific questions about a listed item before the purchase..too many orders to do so! 🙁The Beginning or the End: How Hollywood―and America―Learned to Stop Worrying an (#387783000754)
