I was expecting it do only do hard surface floors but I came home a day ago to a fully vacuumed and manicured carpet also. The lines are straight, the vacuum does hard floors exceptionally well and the carpeted areas ok- not like a stand up vacuum but it pulls pet hair and debris off the surface and gives it a ncie look. Oh and the irobot docks itself to recharge and has an onboard bag that empties automatically. Very very happy!!
