The cardioid pickup pattern means the area directly in front of the mic is the most sensitive, while the sides are less sensitive and sound is not recorded from the rear of the mic. It’s especially well-suited for recording live performances, as well as for using in spaces that have poor acoustics, or for making up a drum kit. Designed specifically for recording instruments rather than vocals, it’s optimized for low frequency instruments such as bass drums, tubas, a kick drum, and accessories such as bass guitar amplifiers. This sturdy mic is rugged but lightweight and it is constructed of durable aluminum. It also features a built-in stand and comes with a pouch. Sennheiser E-602-II drum and bass mics are also easy to position, even on long microphone boom arms, so you can get them in just the right spot for ultimate sound quality and optimal recording. They also feature frequency-independent directivity, which means they help isolate the sound you want to record from the other on-stage signals.
