Created by Caroline Aherne and Craig Cash, THE ROYLE FAMILY is an unusual sitcom in that the action--or lack of it--mostly takes place in the living room of the Royle's flat. Together they slump into comfortable yet tatty chairs, sip from endless cups of tea, and are entertained by the drone of the always-on TV set in the corner. However, its the show's subtle humour and surprisingly poignant moments that have seen it become a modern comedy classic.
