'For a reader who is considering this career path or beginning their coursework, the text gives a very clear and comprehensive understanding of fashion design. It's excellent at covering the primary areas of the fashion design industry.' Steven Faerm, Parsons, The New School for Design, USA 'This highly and well-illustrated volume by Hopkins (Winchester School of Art, UK) is "designed to assist fashion design students ... to gain an understanding of the key functions and processes" that comprise the design, construction, and production of fashion prototypes or collections. It could easily serve as a textbook in any introduction to fashion design, fashion drawing, pattern design, haute couture design and production, or any related courses. It is interspersed with Q&A sessions with professionals in the field. Included are chapters on the fashion figure (covering drawing and illustration techniques); color and fabric; crafting prototypes (from studio through draping, sewing, muslin/toile, and samples); collections (including pricing and presenting a collection); and portfolio and professional practice (answering questions such as what a buyer does). Also featured are a bibliography for further reading, discussion questions, and activities. This will be a useful addition for technical/vocational programs or extremely comprehensive fashion collections. Summing Up: Recommended. Lower- and upper-level undergraduates, two-year technical program students, practitioners, and general audience.' C. Stevens, Lake Forest College, Publisher's Choice 'Clearly defines the field of apparel and fashion design. First year students have ordered this title independently after being exposed to the title and contents in class. The chapters and concepts are concise and clearly presented ... The textbooks produced by AVA are reasonably priced, well structured and of valuable insight relative to the complex fashion industry from experienced individuals. The writing language is easy to read for a novice, and provides a depth of perspective and insight through which seasoned professionals can make new interpretations.' Gayle Ramsden, University of the Fraser Valley, Canada 'The book has a very comprehensive approach to fashion design. Concepts have been elucidated in a way so as to facilitate easy understanding. It would be most helpful for beginners.' Banhi Jha, National Institute of Fashion Technology, India, 'Clearly defines the field of apparel and fashion design. Although this book was not as described, with no picture of it in the listing, the seller communicated well and quickly gave me a full refund while letting me keep it. The minimal packaging left the book a bit vulnerable (typical for ThriftBooks), but it did arrive safely and timely. As usual, it’s hit or miss with this seller, but often times you can get great values, and their customer service is always very good. Many other sellers with millions of transactions don’t even communicate.

I've ordered several items from this vendor now and they've always been what they were advertised as. This was no exception. Both discs were in great shape as well as their jewel cases. Delivery is good, packaging is simple but effective for what you're paying and I haven't had any get damaged. Will keep buying from this vendor because of the results so far and good prices, too.
