Synopsis
Shreds of Matter: Cormac McCarthy and the Concept of Nature offers a nuanced and innovative take on McCarthy's ostensible localism and, along with it, the ecocentric perspective on the world that is assumed by most critics. In opposing the standard interpretations of McCarthy's novels as critical either of persisting American ideologies--such as manifest destiny and imperialism--or of the ways in which humanity has laid waste to planet Earth, Greve instead emphasizes the author's interest both in the history of science and in the mythographical developments of religious discourse. Greve aims to counter traditional interpretations of McCarthy's work and at the same time acknowledge their partial truth, taking into account the work of Friedrich W. J. Schelling and Lorenz Oken, contemporary speculative realism, and Bertrand Westphal's geocriticism. Further, newly discovered archival material sheds light on McCarthy's immersion in the metaphysical question par excellence: What is nature?, Shreds of Matter: Cormac McCarthy and the Concept of Nature offers a nuanced and innovative take on McCarthy's ostensible localism and, along with it, the ecocentric perspective on the world that is assumed by most critics. - u***u (736)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaCarefully packaged book- arrived wrapped in plastic bag and shipped in cardboard box. As a frequent book buyer I appreciate this as so many books are just crammed into a plastic shopping bag and sent on their way- sometimes always hanging out of the bag. I know that Midtown Book Seller books will arrive as described. Shipped promptly. I’d highly recommend them as a seller.
- 9***n (325)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaExcellent experience with this eBay used book seller! The books arrived in perfect condition, as described, and their pristine condition exceeded my expectations. What impressed me most was the speed of shipping: the book arrived much earlier than expected. Furthermore, the packaging was careful and professional, ensuring the book arrived undamaged. Thanks a lot! ❤️❤️❤️❤️
- c***i (102)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaBook was in very good condition as described in the listing. It looked almost new, in fact, but the pages did have some yellowing around the edges, a sign of its age. The seller did an excellent job of wrapping and packing the book for shipment, which I greatly appreciate! He has earned his 100% feedback rating, I'd say. I'm extremely pleased with the seller and this transaction. Thank you!And the Walls Came Tumbling Down: Greatest Closing Arguments Protecting Civil Li (#376028342866)
