Synopsis
'A CHILLING new memoir by the daughter of mass murderer Fred West and his wife Rose describes the savage cruelty of her upbringing in 25 Cromwell Street, Gloucester' DAILY MAIL 'Mae, I mean this ... I'm not a good person and I let all you children down ...' Rose West, HM PRISON DURHAM It has taken over 20 years for Mae West to find the perspective and strength to tell her remarkable story: one of an abusive, violent childhood, of her serial killer parents and how she has rebuilt her life in the shadow of their terrible crimes.Through her own memories, research and the letters her mother wrote to her from prison, Mae shares her emotionally powerful account of her life as a West. From a toddler locked in the deathly basement to a teen fighting off the sexual advances of her father, Mae's story is one of survival. It also answers the questions: how do you come to terms with knowing your childhood bedroom was a graveyard? How do you accept the fact your parents sexually tortured, murdered and dismembered young women? How do you become a mother yourself when you're haunted by the knowledge that your own mother was a monster? Why were you spared and how do you escape the nightmare?, You're 21 years old. Police arrive on the doorstep of your house, 25 Cromwell Street, with a warrant to search the garden for the remains of your older sister you didn't known was dead. Bones are found and they are from more than one body. And so the nightmare begins. You are the daughter of Fred and Rose West. It has taken over 20 years for Mae West to find the perspective and strength to tell her remarkable story. Through her own memories, research and letters her mother wrote to her from prison, Mae shares what it was like to grow up as a West. From a toddler locked in a deathly basement to a little girl living in fear of her mother's violence, and a young teen fighting off the sexual advances of her father, Mae's story is one of dramatic survival. This unique and gripping story is as shocking in its brutality as it is in its normalcy. To Mae, Fred and Rose were just Mum and Dad; to the world, they were the most notorious serial killers of modern times. Love as Always, Mum xxx is an important story of surviving terror, believing in the healing power of love and breaking the cycle of abuse. - u***g (119)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaItem was priced well and a good value, received in a very timely manner and well-packaged. Was in the exact condition described and appearance matched seller's picture(s). Would recommend seller unreservedly and will do business with them in the future. Although customer service was not needed for this sale, I have dealt with Book Outlet numerous times over the years and, when necessary, can say their customer service team is top-notch!
- i***c (891)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThis is a frustrated positive feedback. I am always perplexed when sellers choose to ship via an "off-brand" shipper, e.g., OSM Worldwide. This tends to delay the time it takes to get to me vs more "traditioaal" shipped, e.g., USPS, UPS, or FED-EX. This is a pretty good seller. The price was good, the shipping pretty prompt (though deliver took a bit longer than I expected), and the communication was pretty good as well. The Men We Need: God's Purpose for the Manly Man, the Avid Indoorsman, or Any Ma (#365676100036)
- 2***h (1820)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe book was carefully packaged and arrived in perfect condition. (Nothing is more upsetting than to buy a "coffee table" book of photos and have it arrive in a tattered condition due to insufficient packaging.) In this case, it arrived in the condition that was advertised by the seller. Thanks so much!!
