On inspecting the battery compartment I found two leaking batteries, which was not described in the listing. I spent a couple of hours carefully removing the corrosive chemicals and cleaning the battery contacts, and then testing on a couple of known good items. Externally the unit is in good condition, but the unreported leakage and poor packaging are unfortunate black marks on an otherwise positive listing.
