Piloting the starship <I>Neo Caesar</I> as the hero Starbuck, you must destroy the evil Brains to bring peace to the world once again. Super Star Soldier offers eight stages of shooting action, the first six of which culminate with a unique boss, and the last featuring all of them along with their leader, Mother Brain. Enemies include No Brainer, Spider Fighter, Ant Lion, Noose, Flying Wings, Zap Shot, Tank, and Pin Wheel.<br><br>Defeating the insidious invaders requires use of lasers, homing missiles, super bombs, and the Starbuck Defense System. Power-ups in the form of crystals give your lasers added range or capabilities: red (multi-shot), blue (ring laser), green (spread laser), and yellow (swing fire). Capturing a blinking crystal earns you 5,000 extra points and a super bomb, which instantly destroys all enemies on the screen.<br><br>In addition to the standard mode of gameplay, in which you clear all eight stages and save the world, Super Star Soldier offers two- and five-minute game variations where the objective is to advance as far as possible and amass the highest number of points. The Score option allows you to keep track of the highest score for each type of game.
