Synopsis
With great spiritual insight and unparalleled scholarship, Dr. Taitetsu Unno-the foremost authority in the United States on Shin or Pure Land Buddhism-introduces us to the most popular form of Buddhism in Japan. Unique among the various practices of Buddhism, this "new" form of spiritual practice is certain to enrich the growing practice of Buddhism in the United States, which is already quite familiar with Zen and Tibetan traditions. River of Fire, River of Water is an introduction to the practice of Pure Land Buddhism for readers with or without prior experience with it. The Pure Land tradition dates back to the sixth century c.e., when Buddhism was first introduced in Japan. Unlike Zen, its counterpart which flourished in remote monasteries, the Pure Land tradition was the form of Buddhism practiced by common people. Consequently, its practice is harmonious with the workings of daily life, making it easily adaptable for seekers today. Despite the difference in method, though, the goal of Pure Land is the same as other schools-the awakening of the true self. Certain to take its place alongside great works such as Three Pillars of Zen, The Miracle of Mindfulness, and Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind-River of Fire, River of Water is an important step forward for American Buddhism., With great spiritual insight and unparalleled scholarship, Dr. Taitetsu Unno--the foremost authority in the United States on Shin or Pure Land Buddhism--introduces us to the most popular form of Buddhism in Japan. - p***z (465)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaAlthough the product sold and the description didn’t match the seller took responsibility and offered a return. I do realize mistakes can happen and what matters to me as a buyer is the responsibility the seller takes with their product and listing. There was no defect with the item shipped to me, it was just not what was described. No return or refund needed. I will keep and use the product. - y***a (469)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaShipping was slower than expected but otherwise was a smooth transaction. Shipping package was reused and contained previous customer information. Bad idea! The item was as described and I am happy with the purchase. Not comfortable buying from again. It’d have to be quite a deal. Delivery took far longer too than items I’d purchased that were newer orders. Quality of product was great though. Kinda 50/50 on this deal but there was follow through and item is very nice. TY!
- m***m (1766)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaHard drive did finally arrive in working condition and at a good price, but it took over two weeks to come. I paid for it on April 29th, and on May 5th, after still seeing no "tracking number," contacted the seller, and the tracking number appeared the next day. When I received it, I saw that the mailing label was not generated until May 7th. Seller's answer did not seem honest, claiming USPS "held it" in error. Also, don't expect anything other than what is shown or described from this seller
