Synopsis
Women's Rights, Second Edition is part of the Global Issues series, which is designed to be a first-stop resource for research on the key challenges facing the world today. Each volume contains three sections, beginning with an introduction that clearly defines the issue, followed by detailed case studies of the issue's impact in the United States and several other countries or regions. The second section draws together significant U.S. and international primary source documents, and the third section gathers useful research tools such as brief biographies, facts and figures, an annotated bibliography, and more. A foreword written by an expert in the field complements each volume. A chronology, glossary, and index provide additional help. Although great strides have been made in improving the rights of women since the earliest women's rights movements of the 19th century, to date there remains not a single country that has achieved full equality for its female citizens. Even in developed countries like the United States, women still earn significantly less than their male counterparts and hold far fewer executive-level positions. Women's Rights, Second Edition begins by examining issues of gender equality, including suffrage, access to education, reproductive rights, and workplace rights, among many others. Case studies profile the rights of women in the United States, France, China, Afghanistan, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Book jacket., At the dawn of the 21st century's second decade, the issues women face are just as daunting and complex as ever before, from suffrage and equal representations in government, to educational rights, reproductive rights, and religious leadership roles. Even with recent gains by women in the United States and abroad, women still frequently face discrimination and unequal access to the same rights as men. As such, the fight for complete equality continues. Women's Rights, Second Edition provides a history of women's rights, as well as the movements and people that sought to strengthen them. Case studies of the United States, China, and Afghanistan are presented, and new case studies on the state of women's rights in France (including a discussion of the ban of burqas) and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been added to this edition. Updated material on the status of women's rights in the United States includes discussions of such women leaders as Hillary Clinton, Sonia Sotomayor, and Elena Kagan. Coverage of recent legislation such as the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act has also been added to this invaluable guide., Provides a history of women's rights, as well as the movements and people that sought to strengthen them. Case studies of the United States, China, and Afghanistan are presented, and new case studies on the state of women's rights in France and the Democratic Republic of the Congo have been added to this edition.

Great price and seller stands behind their sale. Super-fast refund when the item arrived damaged. My only suggestion is to please pack better next time; a thin bubble wrap envelope and paper mailer will NOT protect hardcovers.

The packaging was great and my purchase arrived in good conditions! There was one small rip on the dust jacket that was hard to see in the photos so I would not describe this book as very good but the price was very good and the shipping speed was very fast.
