A capable alpinist, the amateur adventurer had no sponsorship or experience with anything as extreme as the solo backpacking trip he envisioned. He made plans to navigate the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness to the Lolo Trail, and had to concoct a diet so lean that he could carry enough food in a backpack to last a month until he could reprovision. Taylor was so far off the grid alone that even a relatively minor injury could prove fatal. Moreover, he decided to trek in late fall/early winter. The seller did tell the truth in saying it was acceptable as was described, and he chose a good price for this, as it is 2 CDs that are almost 15 years old.
