Though seldom publicly acknowledged as such, Alaskan state troopers' jobs are infinitely more demanding and dangerous than those of their equivalents in any other state: the offers must journey hundreds of miles in subthermal temperatures and contend with an environment where nearly any individual whom they happen upon may wield weapons (thanks to the fact that the government requires neither permits nor registrations for firearms). As produced by the venerable National Geographic and aired on the National Geographic Channel, the cable reality series ALASKA STATE TROOPERS follows the adventures of the four hundred men and women who don state trooper uniforms on a daily basis and patrol the icy fjords and barren highways of the state known alternately as the "Land of the Midnight Sun" and the "Last Frontier." This set contains all six episodes from Season One, which originally aired from October through November of 2009: "Ice Patrol," "Crime on the Kenai," "Alaskan Justice," "The Wild West," "Frontier Force" and "Drug Bust."
