NotesBased on the last seven days in the life of Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ Superstar received much criticism when it first opened in 1971. However, it's immense success, both in London's West End and on Broadway, helped launch the careers of the songwriting duo of Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber & has made it one of the most popular musicals ever. This 2001 stage production soundtrack is based on the London revival & stars Glenn Carter as Jesus and Jerome Pradon as Judas Iscariot, co-stars Renee Castle as Mary Magdalene, Fred Johanson as Pontius Pilate and Rik Mayall as King Herod. Also featured are Frederick B. Owens (Caiaphas), Michael Shaeffer (Annas), Tony Vincent (Simon Zealotes) and Calvin Cornwall (Peter).
