Product Information

Add one more to your enviable collection of the formerly used currencies with the 1962 Washington Quarter. Released to celebrate the bicentennial birth anniversary of America’s first president, this silver coin was minted as a tribute to the country’s patriot, George Washington. Hence, on the obverse of this Washington Quarter is engraved the side profile of George Washington and the reverse side depicts the presidential coat of arms. Weighing 6.25 g, the 1962 Washington Quarter is made up of 90 percent silver and 10 percent copper. Designed by the New York sculptor, John Flanagan, this Washington Quarter was coined at two different mints namely Philadelphia (no mint mark) and Denver (D). The reeded edge of this silver coin not only prevented counterfeiting but also helps in identifying it with a mere touch. This Washington Quarter was a replacement of the standing liberty quarter in year 1932.
