Reviews
"A well-documented and engaging read...The author's narrative is rife with jungle derring-do and the myriad dangers of the chase."-- USA Today, "Buffs of buried-treasure and long-ago true-crime tales will enjoy Preston's expertly woven tales."-- Kirkus, "This modern-day archeological adventure and medical mystery reads as rapidly as a well-paced novel, but is a heart-pounding true story."-- Shelf Awareness (Starred Review), "THE LOST TOMB could not have come along at a better time [...] this is a book worth savoring."-- Book Reporter, "Deadly snakes, flesh-eating parasites, and some of the most forbidding jungle terrain on earth were not enough to deter Douglas Preston from a great story."-- The Boston Globe, Praise for The Lost City of the Monkey God "Memoirs of jungle adventures too often devolve into lurid catalogs of hardships [but] Preston proves too thoughtful an observer and too skilled a storyteller to settle for churning out danger porn. He has instead created something nuanced and sublime: a warm and geeky paean to the revelatory power of archaeology...Few other writers possess such heartfelt appreciation for the ways in which artifacts can yield the stories of who we are."-- The New York Times Book Review

- r***1 (177)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaThe book was exactly as described and arrived quickly. The only problem is a recurring one with this seller and other similar sellers - the book is poorly packaged in a plastic envelope and gets heavily bumped in shipping. I would like to see the books wrapped before shipment, but I understand this can't be done for cost reason. Luckily it isn't an expensive book, and I will continue to purchase basic books from this seller. A+++++
- 4***1 (1637)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Mes pasadoCompra verificadaBook arrived quickly and is pretty close to "Very Good" description. Value priced and I'm glad I made the purchase as this is an excellent read. However, the book was mailed loose inside an over-sized plastic bag without any protection. Wrapped in a bubble wrap jacket would be a big help. A book can take a beating in USPS transit without some buffer. I can't tell if the bumps and dings were original or occurred in transit. I'd prefer to pay for shipping than have it sent with no protection.
