Reviews
The Christmas Bookshop is literary hot chocolate with a bourbon shot: hot, sweet but with a surprising emotional kick. Colgan has woven together the ingredients for a fiendishly addictive festive romantic comedy." -- The Times (UK) "Colgan's new Edinburgh-set Christmas novel is full of references to books, descriptions of the twisty insides of a bookshop, and fun details about Scotland, Quakerism, and the centuries-old Great Yew Tree of Ormiston. Get ready to root for these charming characters as they bungle their way toward a merry Christmas." -- Library Journal (starred review) "Colgan's writing is gentle and tender... At the heart of The Christmas Bookshop are the important connections we make with others and the reality that we don't have just the family we were born into; we also have the family that we create through those we come to love. And in every charming story that Colgan writes, we end up feeling that those characters who grace her pages have become so familiar and dear to us that they are family." -- Book Reporter "The Christmas Bookshop was a feel-good holiday novel about a group of people--some related, some not--who learned what family truly means, what they themselves were capable of, and how Christmas can be a magical time of the year...[By] the final page, readers will be happy with how everyone pulls together in a time of need and the amount of joy and love that shines through Colgan's storytelling." -- Harlequin Junkie "[Jenny Colgan] has a breezy, lighthearted writing style which always makes her books a pleasure to read. And she does a wonderful job of capturing life during the holidays and infusing it with all the imperfections and delights which make up the season. She left me longing to decorate and drink cocoa." -- All About Romance "Sublime...Colgan infuses her latest book with humor, wit, suspense and a perfectly cast love triangle." -- USA Today, The Christmas Bookshop is literary hot chocolate with a bourbon shot: hot, sweet but with a surprising emotional kick. But Sofia has yet another baby on the way, a mother desperate to see her daughters get along, and a client who needs help revitalizing his shabby old bookshop. So Carmen moves in and takes the job. Thrown rather suddenly into the inner workings of Mr. McCredie's ancient bookshop on the picturesque streets of historic Edinburgh, Carmen is intrigued despite herself. The store is dusty and disorganized but undeniably charming. Can she breathe some new life into it in time for Christmas shopping? What will happen when a famous and charismatic author takes a sudden interest in the bookshop--and Carmen? - i***c (889)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaThis is a frustrated positive feedback. I am always perplexed when sellers choose to ship via an "off-brand" shipper, e.g., OSM Worldwide. This tends to delay the time it takes to get to me vs more "traditioaal" shipped, e.g., USPS, UPS, or FED-EX. This is a pretty good seller. The price was good, the shipping pretty prompt (though deliver took a bit longer than I expected), and the communication was pretty good as well.
- z***i (1163)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaI recently purchased a book from this Seller, and I couldn't be more pleased with the entire experience. The book arrived in excellent condition, exactly as described. It was packaged in a sturdy, reusable cardboard envelope using no plastic at all. Delivery was surprisingly fast, exceeding my expectations. I highly recommend this Seller!Wombat, the Reluctant Hero (#364491341296)
- 1***r (2335)- Votos emitidos por el comprador.Últimos 6 mesesCompra verificadaA positive feedback was left just because I hate leaving a neutral feedback. But, am not that happy with this transaction. The item sent has a black remainder mark that was not disclosed. I collect books and this detail matters. Book was described as "brand new" but not really. Also, although shipped promptly, the seller used OSM eventhough I paid for USPS shipping; took 12 days to be received. However, book was shipped in a sturdy mailer which I appreciate.
